
Hanks His next role, astronaut and commander Jim Lovell, in the docudrama Apollo 13 (1995) - reunited him with Ron Howard. Many critics praised the film as well as the performances of the entire cast, that included actors Kevin Bacon, Bill Paxton, Gary Sinise, Ed Harris and Kathleen Quinlan. The film was nominated for nine Academy Award nominations and won two. Hanks was the voice actor for Sheriff Woody in Disney/Pixar's computer-animated feature Toy Story (1995). In the following year, he made his directing debut with the musical comedy That Thing You Do! (1996) that chronicles the rise and fall of a popular 1960s group and also a role of a producer. The Time magazine's Richard Schickel described his performance as "charming" and the majority of people who reviewed the film agreed that Hanksrole has earned him a place among the finest romantic comedy actors of his time.
